Hi all,

I apologize im writing in english but i still don't speak dutch...

My name is Eran and i live in Amsterdam for the last year.

I have 550lt with 10 altum (11 months old, 30cm high already) and 15 cory.
mid tech tank with 1w per lt light and Co2 system.
Altum's origin- Simon Forkel, Germany.

No. No need.
The fact I'm using co2 doing the job so actually I'm always around 6.5-7.0PH.
But, they can live even with higher PH, no problem.
 
Nice, Can't wait for new pictures can you post a total shot?
Simon has nice Altums i visit scalarezucht so now and then, and i've seen youtube movies from him.

Little bit of algae problem i see 😉. You want to go to the biotoop style or planted what have you now?.
I've been to his facility as well stunning and very intresting.

Yes, i used only 239w light till a week ago...
now i have almost 1w per liter and slowly i can see less and less algae...

Altum growing up very fast and should have more and more free space so ill keep the tank planted but with enough space for the fish.
im plenning to add some tetra's groups...
im looking for a good online site with good price to buy some...in Amsterdam all the shops i visited asking sky high prices for fish....

Those fish look really healthy indeed! May I ask what the length of your tank is? They seem to have enough space. What kind of tetra specie were you thinking of?

Tank sizes are- 150x60x60.
i added last week 20 Rasbora heteromorpha.
now im looking for 30-40 cardinal tetra....
 
Kind of a shame that you dont keep it a South american themed however that is just a personal thing 🙂 Love them look fat and happy

Nice fish. Please don't admit cardinal tetra's,of other species like that, altum will eat them. Only high build fish will survive. Those Rasboras are also far tot small.

Hi Jos,

I had already altums and tetras and if the group is big enough (30-40, 2cm each) the altums wont touch them...

When i lived in Italy i had altums 3 years with tetras (attached photo of one of them).

but, offcourse, always better to have or big group or tetras like congo tetra or Hyphessobrycon species...
